The Augusta Heritage Center of 91ֱ�� has been approved for a $20,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support its summer 2022 classes, concerts, dances and cultural sessions. Augusta is among 1,248 organizations across America selected to receive this year’s first round of Grants for Arts Projects funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support arts projects like this one from the Augusta Heritage Center that help support the community’s creative economy,” said NEA Acting Chair Ann Eilers. “The Augusta Heritage Center in Elkins, West Virginia, is among the arts organizations nationwide that are using the arts as a source of strength, a path to well-being, and providing access and opportunity for people to connect and find joy through the arts.”

“We are thrilled to be supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and thank them for this investment in our community,” said Seth Young, Augusta’s executive director. “It is a testament to the powerful legacy of this unique institution.”

“It’s quite an honor to see Augusta recognized in this way on the national stage,” added Artistic Director Emily Miller. “We are looking forward to translating this grant support into a knock-out program for everyone to enjoy this summer.”

Augusta’s summer programming attracts hundreds of students to Elkins annually to study with world-renowned traditional artists and musicians. The 2022 season begins July 10-15 with Cajun & Creole, Classic Country and Swing week. Bluegrass and Vocal week will take place July 17-22 and Blues and Old-Time week takes place July 24-29. The summer season concludes July 30 with the Augusta Festival and Block Party. Dances at Augusta attract participants from around the world as well as area residents for fun evenings in the Augusta Pavilion at 91ֱ��.
